Synopsis
Decades after their 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament clash, a middle-aged Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence find themselves once again as martial arts rivals. During the filming of the original Karate Kid, the late director John G. There are many things I like about this series
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon: Anthony Mackie/Ralph Macchio/Kiry Shabazz (2018). Probably the best thing for me is the rejection of political correctness and victim culture. Actually, rejection is a strong word, and it’s not a protest piece by any means, but there’s definitely a theme of taking responsibility for your own destiny and facing adversity with resilience, even some aggression.
Johnny Lawrence’s reaction is priceless
(The show is smart enough to portray overt aggression or anger as counterproductive.) There’s a great scene at a karate competition where a contestant starts to hypocritically virtue signal to the crowd. Hopefully Hollywood will take note that virtue signaling is not a prerequisite for great entertainment. It’s great to see a show that has intelligent messages but doesn’t take itself too seriously.
